Begin your tour with an introduction to Sri Lankan masks, dating back to centuries. The history of the masks will talk about the ancient beliefs and rituals in villages, still put to practice in present day for the same purpose. They are also used in the Perahera parades and dance performances showcasing the traditional Sri Lankan culture. The craftsman will show you the tools used for carving and demonstrate the carving techniques, where you could try your hand on carving the right angles and edges. You will then be able to add color by painting one of the completed carvings, while the craftsman talks about the tradition originated.
