Rubber Plantation Visits

Rubber Plantation Visits

Visit the rubber plantation to learn the process of rubber tapping and its detail to the final product. The rubber tapper starts early in the cool of the day to remove a thin layer of bark, which allows the latex to run down to a collecting cup. The latex which is a milky fluid is the substance which is used in the production of rubber. The tapper returns during the day to collect the latex from the trees, before transporting it to the factory. You could watch how carefully the process is carried out without causing harm to the trees. The rubber industry in Sri Lanka dates back to the 19th century and is amongst the leading exports in the country.
